Volunteer
Volunteers are the life blood of foodbanks. Can you spare a couple of hours a week on a fairly consistent basis? Your skills could be just what we need.
Our current volunteer needs are;
Café – Involves serving food and drink to customers, using the till and making coffees, within cafe hours. This position supports the Dwell cafe which provides affordable food for the community, with all income going back into the wider Foodbank project. Hospitality experience preferred but not necessary; training can be provided.
Kitchen – Assisting the in-house Chef with food preparation, moving stock and dishwashing. Kitchen experience desired but not essential (Needed on Wednesdays and Thursdays)
Warehouse – Sorting out incoming donations and outgoing food parcels and stocking shelves for foodbank sessions. Please note this role involves lifting some heavy parcels.
Reception – Meeting clients, processing their requirements and signposting them to further help if applicable.
Delivery – Volunteers with own cars who can deliver food parcels to clients in the Penryn/Falmouth area (We are currently not offering deliveries)
Dwell café opening hours:
- Wednesday 10am – 4pm
- Thursday 10am – 1pm (Foodbank session 2pm – 4pm)
- Friday 10am – 4pm
Volunteers usually come in 30mins before opening time to open the cafe.
Foodbank opening hours:

Mon: 11am-1pm
- Thu: 2pm-4pm
Volunteers usually come in an hour before opening time to prepare for the session.
Naturally, we will arrange for DBS checks and all necessary training required.
